Hello out there in the Nerdspace. PapaWookiee here, bringing you this month’s charity shout out. You know, we get into a lot of shenanigans and trouble on this website and the podcast sometimes. Well, okay a lot of the time. I mean some us of still have warrants, but I digress.

Through all the fun and crudeness, one of our main goals has always been to educate the masses. And what could be better that educating and empowering kids. You know…..the little ones inheriting this planet after we all die off someday? Wouldn’t it be great to do what we can to ensure those kids have the skills and knowledge necessary to carry the human race well into the future? Well at least until we are eventually conquered by the robot overlords that will rise against us at some point…..Hold on, I’m getting off track here…..

Anyways, we at the Circle of Nerds believe in great education for all, regardless of background and social paradigms. That why this month we’re excited to talk about the awesome charity known as DonorsChoose.org.

Founded in 2000 by former public school teacher Charles Best, DonorsChoose.org is a nonprofit organization that was one of the first civic crowdfunding platforms of its kind. DonorsChoose.org provides a platform that enables teachers to request school supplies for their students as well as resources for any hopeful classroom projects. The organization then makes these requests available to donors through the DonorsChoose.org website. Using the website, donors are able to browse any project or request available and donate directly to any particular request or project they choose. As of today, DonorsChoose.org announced that over $811 million dollars’ worth of projects have been funded by charitable people looking to make sure that kids get the school supplies and learning opportunities they need. In fact, the organization has been so efficient and successful that it has been given Charity Navigator’s highest rating every year since 2005.

So head on over to DonorsChoose.org and help us continue to ensure the best education possible for our planet’s future leaders. Together, maybe we can even avoid eventual domination by those damn robot overlords one day.

Remember, nerds. Alone we are strong, but together and united we are unstoppable!
